Radar Detector/Jammers

Who is using these things? I have not got a ticket yet but I will at the rate of driving I've been doing. This car is deceptively fast sometimes and on purpose fast the rest of the time.

What is the ticket for 125 in a 55mph?

You can either get a $3k concealed unit from Escort or hardwire a V1 into place for $500. If you don't speed much, I would get the V1.

Admittedly more costly, but I suggest you consider the Escort 9500ci which is a terrific unit. I have one in my CGT. Its a radar detector and laser diffuser/shifter (not sure the V1 has a laser diffuser/shifter; the V1 is a fantastic radar detector but that doesn't do you much good if you are lasered). The 9500ci has a number of additional wonderful features -- auto learn, speed trap and traffic light camera warnings etc. If you go in that direction I suggest considering a stealth installation inside and outside (which is not readily possible with the V1). For some ideas check out www.systems-unlimited.net The Systems Unlimited crew recently installed a 9500ci in another CGT and similar to the Mercedes CLS shown on the site the readout on the CGT is in the speedometer (just below the B; totally stealth as are both the front and rear deflectors/diffusers)(this CGT is not shown on their website yet; my CGT is shown and shows an alternative installation). Good luck!

I used to run nothing and only got 1 ticket on my old 911. I went with V1 on my new 911 and got many tickets. I've ditched radar again to rely on common sense.

Well, my 'official' stance is do not speed on public roadways as they are not well designed for top speeds, you have too many innocent people who are clueless untalented drivers plus of course animals, children, etc that can pop out unexpected... If you want to drive at the limit take it to the track. Bentley does offer various track events as do many other groups/marques/clubs. The racetrack 'cured' me of doing stupid things on public roads.

Food For Thought: For a mere $40k you can get a Formula 2000 car and pull 3G+ in the twisties and have acceleration and braking that makes a Ferrari Enzo seem like a Toyota Prius. For $20k you can easy get a good condition with spares Formula V, or for $7k get a track prepped Miata... If you love to speed and challenge your driving talents, or learn more about vehicle dynamics in a safe and controlled environment, then by all means please enjoy a few track events.

Apologies if the above seems to be 'Soap Box' preaching, believe me i have had more than my fair share of speeding tickets and the track cured me of that. Learned so very much more not just about vehicle dynamics, etc... wheel to wheel racing also taught me quite a bit about myself too.

With that all said, i prefer the V1 for situation awareness.

^^ good point Steven. cops are after us for minor things even if you don't speed. that's why i got the V1. things like no front plate and tinted window are really annoying to be pulled over for. i wish there is a place to mount front plate and i don't need tinted window to provide privacy from gawkers. in the mean time, i will roll my window down when V1 locks in a cop.

Thanks guys I will look into the options.

Steven I understand your concerns and agree safety is paramount. I find myself doing 70 in a 55 and so on not wringing it out in the blind corners and just want an opportunity to see ahead slow down.

I don't know what kind if any tracks there are around here but should look into it. I would like to top the car out on a straight safe legal road.

Get a laser kit hardwired in.

9500ci or K40

One ticket at 120+ will almost pay for it, depending on where it is.

Also dont know what year your bentley is, but Im told the 04-06 with the metal in the windshield blocks the V1s ability to detect radar/laser. Wish i had known that before i got nailed for 90 in a 65 a few weeks ago. Gotta love the cop not writing the ticket for 89 in a 65 and saving me some points.

Mine is an 07. In another thread I wrote of my first encounter with the law in the new car. I clocked me coming up behind him doing 69 in a 55. Nice older Ga. trooper wrote a warning and let me go. I was not "speeding" just loafing down the road. Now a few miles back i was speeding.

We do a lot of 9500ci custom installs and they work great. There are some trick places you can mold your display and controller into on the CGT as well.

Super fast

Cant do that too much in So Cal, besides the midnight runs. We have a few tracks that are available to us so that will kill the need for speed. But yeah, I gotta look into a high end jammer. What is the best one available on the market?

Like many have mentioned above, I would recommend the Escort 9500ci. It has radar detection and laser jamming capabilities and does a great job at both. It also has GPS to eliminate annoying false alerts. We install many of them in customers cars and all are very satisfied.
