Hi All.

Based in HongKong and wanted to import GTC from UK but it seems laws have changed since June 2012 that all new cars/used or otherwise must meet the Euro 5 emissions. Can anyone recommend "if" there's any solution/ simple or inexpensive way to tweak the engine/exhaust or whatever is involved to meet these Euro 5.

All ideas welcome & thanks for your comments.

 

Hello fellow Honger...we have another member here thats also from HK.

I know the new GT meets Euro5 but unsure of the older model. If you can get proof from a UK dealer or testing centre and forward to Environmental Protection Department to gain approval before shipping over. I can't remember what I got but I believe it was a certificate of conformance from Bentley UK (cost a few hundred pounds), will look for you tomorrow.

First import tax is a bit of a killer now since it went up but still cheaper than buying local.

If all fails i am thinking to just buy cl 63 AMG coupe in the meantime and wait for the GT V8 a yr later or so.

 

Cert of conformance...maybe call up EPD and ask if this is acceptable after the change.

Take car back to Bentley HK, service costs ain't too bad but repairs can be costly but acceptable after discount.

Surprisingly not that high! thanks. Now let me see what i can do. talking to import agents now and we'll see how it goes - i will have to list my SL55 now.

 

I asked a friend o/b and he states even with cert of conference there is still a chance EPD may reject. Thus best exhaust all questions at his side before making any purchases, get things in writing.

Umm...your SL isn't black with plate number MBxxxx?

Tks J. I've almost given up on the GT and will go for the CL63 or 65 amg caz of:
1-the uncertainty surrounding emissions issue,
2-I prefer the throaty v8/v12 on the AMG CL.
3-CL's bigger interior- Will have new born in few months.

And found one with a fridge for the baby's milk! lol

Yea my SL is black, but plate number is RCxxxx. Its stock. no modifications.

 

Have fun when the ride arrives.

Remember baby's drink warm milk. haha
