Auto release E-brake?

We all know we need to manually pull the E-brake to engage handbrake and push down to release. Recently found out if you drive off in D the E-brake will automatically release itself?

Is this normal for all types of E-brake? Can this function be turned off via vagcom?

Thanks
J

I like it this way. Why would you want to disable this feature and possibly drive off with the brake on?

Didn't know that Miss B could do that. Thanks JC 333! Gotta read my manual more often.

I like this feature but as a tweaker was wondering if it could be turned off. I'm always scared the guys at valet parking forget to take E-brake off but now no longer a problem.

I've actually read the manual but must of missed this part but now that I know of it will make for faster gateways. haha Need to try it in reverse mode now.

Anyone know how to turn off the pax front airbag?

There's a key slot in the glove box for deactivating the passenger airbag.

Not with mine. Auto off at anytime, just need to accelerate either forwards or backwards.

I live in flat Florida so never apply the E-brake.

I rarely use any e or handbrake even though I live in hill country. I usually avoid the steep parking places where possible. I have only once had a vehicle roll away and that was on a standard shift pickup truck. Actually it got away twice, once into a tree and another jumping a curb and center punching a car at the bank behind the office.

Last update on the auto e-brake.

Found out it will only auto release if drivers seat belt is locked otherwise the e-brake will remain on.
