Part 3W0971238

Anyone know how to fit this to my 2004 BCGT ?

It is an extra earth strap that is supposed to fix up the false triggering i have with my PDC.
Its difficult to see in the photo, but the insulated strap has terminal ends with a 1/4" hole in each that needs to get bolted somewhere. 2 bolts came with the kit.

It was listed as an extra earth strap, so i doubt it replaces the original but is an extra.

Thank-you

To be fair, you have a 2004 which is an 'early' model GT.Usually things like this become build/standard within newer cars and thus why no one else here may have the same experience as you are having. Still, we see these types of build changes allthe time... even in 1/2 year models from various manufacturers. As for where thatcable goes, am not sure and you may want to visit the dealer as surely they canat least show you the locations, yet there may not be pre-drilled locations for attachment as it was not originally part of the chassis/car build.

The part number you have is newer as workshop shows 3w0971237.

There is engine to body (see attachment and get a shock!) and engine to earth. What you have is engine to earth but there is no indication on workshop manual where it bolts to. I can only tell you it goes somewhere in the engine to earthing point. Best to ask dealer where the cable goes as you may damage something otherwise.

Tell u what I will have a look in my engine bay and update you if I can find the twin black snake!

Good luck!

Thanks, it is what came with it.

Park Distance Control (PDC) false indication
Applicability: Bentley Continental GT
From VIN 21994 to 23868
Market Region: All
Introduction: There have been occurrences of the park distance control
(PDC) system giving out proximity warnings when there are clearly no
objects within sensor range. The cause has been identified as electrical
‘noise’ generated by the vehicles ignition system.
To control the electrical ‘noise’ on affected vehicles an additional engine
earth lead is required which will divide and reduce the current flow in the
original one
The false warnings described above are not to be confused with normal
system sensitivity.

I think your best off asking the seller on installation location.

I just had a look under the hood and I couldn't even find the first ground cable. Even engine is one of the smallest W12 its still a monster and no grounding cable could be seen from all 4 sides.

Good luck!
