It doesn't compete with its "competitors" regardless of what they say. Drive one around for a weekend and you'll see what I mean. I've got cars with all of the tech gadgets but the Bentley is in a class with Rolls Royce and that's it. The other GT's are more sport and the Bentley is more luxury. I have a 2013 GT Speed and it is very fast but in a luxury atmosphere - I have sports cars for when it is time to shred rubber and snap necks. The SLS is more of a sports car but, in my opinion, not a very good option for the money. I think you are paying a big premium for those doors. Otherwise, the SL63 or SL65 is better in most every way as a GT car. That said, I don't know if I would own the Bentley if I only had 1 car because it's nice to be able to slip by under the radar sometimes. The SLS would be an easier every day car even though it lacks storage.

I also considered the Aston Martin but again, no rear seat. Ditto for the Ferrari California. I've had grown adults sit in the rear seats of my GTCs which wouldn't have been possible in either of those other three cars.

It all depends on how you see yourself using the car. For me, it's a balance of style, comfort, luxury, elegance, exclusivity, and lots of fun pushing the go pedal and feeling all that torque. Would it be fun to be able to go 0-60 in under 4 seconds? Sure, but not if it means having to give up everything else to do so. And, in the real world where such acceleration opportunities are rare, I've found that the Continental GT answers all my everyday needs.
I sat in the back seat of my Bentley GT from Long Beach to Vegas and fell asleep.

Thanks for the info Steven. I am not about to 'slam' the car so it should be ok. If in doubt I will speak to a shop.

Both these Mercs are stunning lookers in the flesh, and tremendously responsive on the throttle. I loved the acceleration - much better than anything I've owned or driven... just keeps powering easily up the scale until your nerve runs out.

The inside was a good fit for me, and the layout very pleasant. I've had a lot of SLs, so it was all very familiar Mercedes quality.

I would have the car as a third car. It has a decidedly hard ride, so it's only good for boulevarding or open road for me. For a first car, I would still stick with the Bentley!

Haven't figured out what the second car would be, probably an Aston Martin Virage or DB9.

What's the major factor that would make you want to stick with the Bentley after having the SLS?

There's no one thing that keeps me with the CGT. It's a combination of quality, conservatism, and maybe just a feel-good fit. I've tried out a lot of cars and some brands just speak to you. My wife said I didn't suit a Porsche, for example, and in my mind I agreed with her. I'm no Fast Eddy. Some people look right at home in their brand, and that's what I feel about the Bentley.

Ken, I love Bentleys. I want to own a CGT stock and not ever modify anything. It's perfectly engineered and the craftsmanship is impeccable. Like perfect and bulletproof. I love cars. I own a handful of cars. But my favorite was always a Bentley.

I only sat in the SLS on the showroom and darn I liked the look of the car and it did sound great but I felt like i was falling into the car and rolling out. It was not a graceful and dignified thing. The cool doors may be a tad much for me and actually embarrassing attracting at times. My Bentley interior is much more beautiful and luxurious to look at and the car just feels more roomy and comfortable.

I choose Bentley as my first and only exotic car because it is classy luxury in a beautiful quick car. It is very reliable for daily driving and easy on the pocket for maintenance.

That said I love Aston Martin and Mercedes but Bentely checked more boxes.

Keith great to have you up for a few minutes and sorry you had to cross paths with the redneck cops of Union Co.. With your out of town accent it's a wonder your still not here in jail. Hey boy you ain't from round chere are ya?

I like how Buddilly said it.
