Hey guys my names Matthew, anyway I know this is stupid but what do you think about a 23 year old with a ~$100,000 salary after tax buying a used bentley continental gt for about 53,000$. I know the gas mpg is pretty low compared to other normal cars, but at this price point the pure class and luxury that this car has to offer beats everything else. My other choice would be maybe a non-amg mercedes c-class with a luxury package and maxed out options, but I feel like it'll blend in.
I always loved big luxury coupes like the bentley. I've recently been dreaming of the Wraith but its too far out of reach unless I get a salary of 500k a year which is far fetched.
Would the bentley be a good choice for a daily driver? I know maintenance costs will be up there but I absolutely love the look and interior of the continental. I would be willing to cut some corners from other aspects of my life for the first 2 years of my life away from college in order to take care of the car.
It's your life and you money. Who am i to say what you shut buy but since you asked. It might look conspicuous and you might receive some unwanted judgment and most of it you will never hear. Starting near the top of the car food chain may not be the best way to go.
After all that is said you must make your own way.
Frankly, 2005 is not a good year as they made changes to ensure higher reliability and whatnot. The AMG will better blend in until you have good savings as these cars can get costly to repair and maintain. If I may, at 23 I feel a wonderful choice that would stand out would be a Lotus Elise
I'm 27 and I just bought a Flying Spur 2006 a week ago..
anyway for the ride it is the worst car for daily driver because it very loud, rumble, and very firm.
It fun to drive, AWD bring u everywhere, it just a toy car in my opinion, only drive to the bar in midnight or go and make some fun at hi speed.
I have a 750li E66 too, and S550 AMG package 2008,
the car i believe which i choose to drive every day is BMW, fun to drive... quiet, and not reliable.
The S is reliable, less trouble, very quiet, smoothest ride make u sleep...

Well we do have differing opinions about what makes a good DD. While my car does not do true full time DD i drive it quite a bit and it performs well for an exotic car. Have to wonder if Merc. and BMW are considered exotics?
You young fellows are not the norm for upscale car owners.

Exactly my thoughts, as the other day after posting on this thread felt the Bentley is for older guys and not those under 40. The B was, quite a few years ago, in various music videos yet anything over a year ago is ancient history with the younger crowd.
Considering the original poster wanted a great car at reasonable cost to keep going and be reliable, we all know a Bentley is not the correct choice. That's why I went for the Lotus suggestion. The new Jags are quite nice, too, and far less costly to buy and keep going. Of course he mentioned a Mercedes and that is another option, if perhaps a bit borrrrring.
Provided you don't live at home and live somewhere decent yes go for it if you can afford to. I have no idea anyone's finances, personally cars should be the last thing to spend on. Housing, friends/family, traveling/going out are far better expenses. If all those are checked off and you love the Bentley and can afford go for it.
I'm 31 and just bought my 09 coupe. I bought my V8 Vantage at 30. I've previously owned a G35 coupe, C350, C63 AMG, and CLS63 AMG. Thus far I can't agree with the statement that it's not a suitable daily driver. I find it much more tame and comfortable than any of the AMG cars and certainly better all around than the G coupe and C350 were.
Got to say I love the look of the Flying Spur but at 32 I don't think it suits my image and went for the GT.
Agree with Townshed at 23 I would have been playing with RS4/5,M3,C63,911/Cayman
If you are going to go for the Bentley, The maintenance and running costs can break the bank on any model year so do your homework and make sure you pay close attention to the history of the vehicle before you buy.

Even with a good history, things go awry and as we all know they can get costly very fast
Go for it. Do what makes you happy. Don't let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do with your own money. You only die once
I drive mine daily and love it. At the end of the day, it is only a car.cars were meant to be driven.
