The engine and trans weighs a lot I would guess 2,000 lbs. I read some where the trans is 600 lbs alone.

....B-F....What were the factors that went into decision to replace engine and trans as against selecting another car...what is year and model of your car and what year of engine and trans you installed...is your high mileage mostly high speed road mileage...roughly how much did overall job cost...all of this information would be helpful to many out here who are faced with either major broken engine or trans...I had a 15 year old BMW 5 series that looked like new and never hit, but the ZF trans failed as many did, gave car to charity where due to great condition of car it still had bit of value...that's when I bought my wife a new 5 Series BMW...but that was a bad experience...when BMW could not fix bad electronics and screwed me on $2700 phoney extended warranty...sold BMW got new Lexus JimB
