Nothing taken This is my only time will own a Bentley and still it's only 61,000 KM, I have and had many super cars from different names and never faced what I have faced with Bentley, now believe me I will sell it ASAP.
I will advice my mechanic not to do any modification, should it fit as it is or will have to buy the J unit unfortunately
Will work on the car next week and get back to you with the updates, fingers crossed it will fit some how
Thanks for the advice and I always welcome infos and tips from more experienced people like your self
WOW !,
I can understand your frustration, I know it's an 05, but only 38,000 miles and the alternator went, any idea what burnt it, did you have any other issues prior, maybe a second opinion.
I have had several Audi's with the same 190 amp liquid cooled alternators and never had one go, knock on wood, my 2005 Audi A8l W12 at 190,000 + miles still has its original unit.

Nothing went wrong, I was with the car on a tour around Europe, and then parked it for couple of months cuz and told my employee to run it, he told me battery went flat, he replaced them and all lights came up, told him to drive it for a while so they should turn off by them selves, and he told me car won't go above 40km speed, asked him nicely to park the car back and now I took it to my mechanic and on the way driving 40km speed ALTERNATOR warning came on the screen, parked the car and here I am
Like I said, Car is well kept and maintained, but prefer to exchange it for some Rolexes
First always use a trickle charger when parked at home ...more so if it’s parked up for extended periods .This applies theses days to any high tech high end marque , Porsche , Ferrari , Lamborghini, McClaren etc etc ........basically any thing ( most modern cars ) stuffed with ECU s .
Second ...if the €3 gasket is weeping at the back of the alternator it’s masked by regular use because regular heat evaporates it away .
Theres will be hundreds out there with asymptomatic , undiagnosed leaky Bentley GT alternator water pipe gaskets .
I guess folks could attempt to monitor the cold coolant level accurately......if it’s dropping by 5 mm or what ever in the from memory 3 cm range on the dip stick under the cap ......then find the leak check all the hoses .
As I said my diligent tech requested to remove the alternator ( no symptoms or faults ) “ while in there “ to check theses o rings and yes mine where weeping ......but only diagnosed when he had it off on the bench .
You May as well replace the double sided poly belt and it’s idler pulleys too ......” while in there “ as the belt needs to come off and pulleys eased off to access the alternator.Bentley official change out for the belt is 10 y intervals anyhow .
Before you ask .....NO the VW part ( belt ) is another example of a part the does not fit because the Bentley is ribbed don’t both sides .
Worth examining the main radiator too while it’s off or swung aside because theses are made of aluminium at the bottom and corrode .....tiny pin hole leaks where the main core connects .All hidden away out of sight and mind until it’s can be properly eyeballed .Comes in a pack with new hoses .
Its time your 05 not miles that leads to parts failure......more so if the roads are salted in the winter .

Thanks for the tips, always welcoming you guys for the great infos you provide.
Will try to install the K unit next week and hopefully will find a Rolex to trade the Bentley for
I came back not happy to tell you the K unit does not fit my GT, everything is fine except the fitting screws which hold alternator in place, J unit has wider body than K unit.
Now need to look for a cheap J unit, any for sale ?
Thanks for coming back and donating your hard knock experience so the next guy does't have to.
Have you thought about simply having your unit rebuilt? Other than the casing and water stuff, I don't know that there is anything special about the alternator that an alternator rebuild shop can't deal with. If you're stuck with the K unit and can't return it, I bet a good shop can transfer the guts.
This is the intention of this forum, share knowledge and help each other, many rebuild shop advised me to go for new, this is a not difficult to repair but not effective, needs time and resources, so I am looking for cheap OEM.
And to change the guts scenario, it's a smart move from bentley to not being a smart A$$ on them and go for the K unit, they force u to obey their stinky rules and buy only what they make, change guts isn't possible due to size different in different angels
That makes sense; I remember my Lotus and Triumphs, I learned early on to not tell rebuild places or parts shops what model car I needed something like a hose for...they would always balk. I remember finding a radiator hose for my Lotus Esprit by going behind the counter and holding my hose up to all the different shapes until I found a match. The Autozone dude really just wanted to look it up, but I knew better, he's say, "We don't carry those". The one I found had the right bends to it, but was too long, easy to fix.
In my other world, I often get big motors rebuilt, I'm always surprised for a hundred bucks, they can take a frozen 1/2 horse single-phase motor, or a 3/4 horse three-phase and give it back to you with new bearings, new windings, new start switches and stuff. I know alternator shops can also do great work. But...from my last exotic, I know that they are probably going to run in the other direction, since they've never seen it before, don't know if they can get the parts (most important concern I bet) and will have an owner cry holy murder if they make the rebuild into scrap.
These are either cheap Chinese knock-offs, or original OEM that fell of the factory conveyor belt. So a smokin' hot deal, or a, "You've got to be kidding me!" ripoff.
You first
BTW, have you tried the Audi part number they list as equivilent? Looks like the same part number with "Audi" stamped on it.
This is Bentley part number not Audi, They change the last letter by car model, Bentley is 07C903021J and VW is 07C903021K, this will impact the fact that you won't be able to install it on different car

Hi Shaqovic,
Please do take this the wrong way, BUT, something did go wrong, most likely while your employee either possibly attempting to jump start the vehicle, charging the batteries, or while he or she was changing out both batteries, so, did you mechanic check the battery controller module as pictured for any faults, as I believe this module controls the charging of both batteries, also did you see any signs of arching around either of both battery connection ?
I have some alternators of the number you need, but I think the shipping would blow out the discount I give to my fellow 6SPEED members...
Hello Shaqovic,
You did not respond to my last posts here, I have the 3 items you requested, and as I can not post pictures in PM, I will post some alternator pics here, I will updated with pics of the belt and shift **** tonight.
I just want you to be 100% as to your alternator being the problem, and not what I mentioned in my prior post as to battery control module, because I do not want any issue if the change out of said alternator does not cure your issue, this alternator is tested and in working order.
Johnny.

Are your red door inserts and seats factory ?
If so, then as the only reds that were available for the 2005 GT were HotSpur or FireGlow, its one or the other.
Here is a picture of my 2005 GT with the two tone HotSpur FireGlow interior.
