2008 gt
2008 gt
I'm currently running a 2008 GT with less than 25000 miles on the clock.
The car has developed a droning noise from the front nearside which increases in volume as speed increases , but is barely audible at speeds below 50 MPH .
At first I thought the cause was a worn wheel bearing but cornering to the right or left does not increase or decrease the noise which is a usual clue for that sort of problem .
I'm wondering about a worn drive shaft coupling or even a worn front differential bearing .
Anyone any thoughts on this ?
Are drive shaft /diff problems common on these models ?

I had that, it was a wheel bearing, left front, which is maybe common?
I was also certain it wasn't a bearing, since I've had bad wheel bearings and it's always totally obvious. I was certain until the shop put it on the lift and walked me over, I knew they were going to wiggle the wheel before they said anything. I just said, "Yep, wheel bearing, didn't think it was." Very small movement had an outsized effect on drivability.
So get it on a lift, you can't diagnose from driving, at least I couldn't.
