Newb Questions

Greetings,
Just test drove a used 2016 Continental GT Coupe with less than 11,000 miles and a number of issues concerned me. First, the windows seemed to rattle a bit when closing either door, the front surround for the grille is cracked through right at the Bentley badge and the headliner is sagging significantly over the rear seats. In addition, the boot does not automaticallly open or close and the automatic steering wheel retract when opening the doors doesn't work. Just makes a loud clacking sound when the door is opened. The dealer is fixing these issues, but how common are these problems and is the fix likely to be one and done or are these problems going to return? I was surprised that my Jag F-Type R has a much more solid feel when closing the doors than the Bentley. However, there is no wind noise at speed so I am wondering if this is really cause for concern or just how the car is. Can't tell you how much I enjoyed driving it. Any feedback the group can provide would be most appreciated.
Thanks

Honestly it sounds to me like you are describing a 2006 not 2016 GT. I have had an 04, 05 and 15, and my 15 doesn't have any of the issues you are describing. The older ones it is common to have the headliner need regluing. You can set whether you want the steering wheel to retract when opening doors or just stay the same. I can't remember which menu it is under.
Paul
(and my doors close like a bank vault, very solid)

Nope, definitely was a '16 and I have decided to steer clear of that one.
Thanks

Sounds like you made the right decision.
I am strongly considering selling my '15 GT Speed. Send me a private message if you might be interested.
Here is a link to the original listing for the car to see all the specs.

That car sounds like it was pieced back together from a bad accident

Or it was baking in a south Florida lot for a year or so. I know the dealer purchased it from auction and not much else.

Pending purchase

I'm about to pick up my, new to me, 2011 GTC Speed 8011. Black on Granite. The broker whom I've known a long time had it to Bentley to replace a side mirror motor that was inop, replace the seat positioning switches that had a broken off cover and replace an exterior molding that was peeling off. Had a little scare when he said the sound system was acting up and Bentley said it needed a new amp. Turned out to be a loose wire in the door from the mirror repair. It was serviced at the dealer with Synthetic oil. It's got approximately 42,000 miles. The rag top was reportedly replaced about 500 miles ago. I'm paying about 72 grand. It has a clean carfax. One owner. Any advice on things to check before I consumate the deal? Any thoughts on the price? Seems more than fair to me, I've been looking for a long time.

I would try to get a 2013+ if you can swing it. It seems that 2012 and earlier have issues that were resolved with the later models. Why would it need a new top at 42,000? I hear they cost about $20,000.

The tops can go at any given time, irrelevant of the mileage. My 2015 was replaced (under warranty) with just 60,000 klms (37000 miles) and my previous 2008 with 25,000klms was also replaced. They all go for the same reason. A small rivet corrodes thus causing a short nylon strap to give up which in turn keeps the hood aligned to the mechanical frame. Fortunately Bentley and other manufacturers have produced a kit for about $300 to replace the old design, I strongly recommend anyone with a convertible to install these kits, no matter how new or old yours is.

Ok - thanks for the heads up - I will dig a little more on the pre 13 models to see what specifically was the issue -
I was told the top had a tear and the previous owner replaced it. Maybe insurance paid? I dont know
