Carrying on from my recent acquisition of a 2007 MY Mulliner GT , and the PO not giving her much love, i am replacing 'unknown ' condition service items , this time the fuel filter, a relatively easy job , you dont even need to jack up the car, just pop it into the higher ride height mode ,
from underneath the right side, in front of the right rear wheel is where the filter lives , there is a 'filter protector with mounting clips ' and is held in with a Jubilee clip , mine was frozen solid , so i cut it out and replaced with a sturdy Zip-Tie , the clips hold in some Vac lines, fuel return , and ' other lines ' lol, they simply pry out , the protector drops away ,and the filter is loose,
the replacement filter, not too worried about being ' genuine Bentley or VW ' but this is still a high end item , ensure the arrow on the filter is pointing ' towards the engine ' for correct flow ,
The fuel pipe clips are a bit of a fiddle to remove, but essentially , push the clip towards the filter body , push in the tab on the end, while pushed in pull off the connector off the filter stub , fuel will flow out , not too much pressure release , and i used the new filter caps to cover and limit the gravity flow of fuel left in the pipe and filter, it does stop flowing and you wont empty the tank !!
New filter installed, all zip tied in and Vac pipes back in place, took me about half an hour, when i do it again about 10 minutes ,
emptying the old filter to dispose of the fuel correctly did show black fuel from the supply side , so it was doing its job and is now replaced ,
turning over the engine will prime the filter, about 4 second of low revs and then back to normal as it self bleeds etc ,
