New to me 04 GT No Start/Electrical Issue Help

I recently bought a 04 GT. When I received the car it started and ran fine, but I know the car needs new front air struts as the front end settles to the ground after a few days.. I had to let the car sit for approx. 2 months as I was rebuilding my sons corvette motor. I finished his car this weekend and went to work on the GT and the car would not turn over. I had the main battery on a trickle charger, but the battery only showed 11.2volts and 3.4 under load. The start battery shows 12.8 volts and 12.4 under load. So I replaced the house battery per the recommended procedure and still have the same issue. I performed a full scan which is attached and I am showing multiple electrical issues. I don't know if this is because the battery was dead and I haven't been able to to get started to reset everything or if I have other issues. I am very good mechanically, but am new to working on such a high end vehicle, any help would be appreciated. Attached is the scan log I did today.

Hello Jason,

Change the batteries and keep them on a battery maintainer. The cigarette lighter in the trunk will keep both batteries maintained. As stated in the past our Bentleys eat batteries. Once new batteries are installed delete the trouble codes, start the car and rescan. When the batterys lose their potential trouble codes abound from a complaining ECU.

Should good fortune be on your side new batteries will keep the front suspension at the proper level. Otherwise the struts need to be evaluated as well as any potential line leakage.

The main battery is brand new, the start battery is testing very good under load. So I should clear everything with my VCDS, and then try to start the car?

Well than, of course double check the battery(s) connections. Try turning the key to the left, (emergency start) and then to the right after that.

Check that the carpet on the left front side is dry (driver US). That is the location of the kessey ignition start authorization module. Also check the windshield scuttle. That space sometimes gets clogged with leaves and debris which can casuse water ingress into the ecu's and lead to wet carpets. Clearing the codes will not fix the no-start situation. The multitude of the trouble codes suggests a voltage deficiency. For the record the right side battery is the starter battery.

The carpet is dry, but I am still working on getting it removed to double check. I will double check the batteries connections also. I did try the emergency start procedure several times with no luck. The center gauge is telling me to press the brake while starting, I have it down and I can’t remember if that earring is supposed to go off once depressed. I didn’t know if it could be a possible brake switch issue.

Hello @V12diablo
If you are pressing the brake pedal while trying to start the engine, the warning should never be displayed, if you forgot to press the pedal while starting, the warning would then be displayed, but once you press the pedal, it should be gone, so, yes, I would be replacing the brake switch, I have replaced mine twice..

Ok, I will check that, and that was the info I was looking for. Is there a way to bypass or jump it. So I can get it moved while I wait for the part.

I was able to find the switch locally, I checked the old switch and the switch tested fine, but I replaced it with the new one anyways. I checked continuity on the four terminals and it was the same as the new one. I am still not able to start the car and it tells me to press the brake pedal. The switch I replaced was the brake light switch that mounts to the pedal itself. Is it possible there is a communication issue. I’m not a expert by any means but there seemed to be a lot of communication codes on the log in my original post. I’m not sure where to go from here.

Make sure the shifter is solidly in park. Also attempt starting in neutral. Let's hope this works!

I was recommended by Ewe on the Ross-Tech forum to clear the codes by module. So, I went through and cleared all codes module by module. Some codes came right back, but most did not. I rescanned and attempted to start the car, It started and ran for 2 seconds and shut off. It would do that every time. So I am wondering if there is a issue with the Kessy system. I have attached the before Start and after Start logs.

@V12diablo ,
When you are starting the engine, are you in the vehicle with all doors closed, if so, does the dash display any message of immobilizer, as your engine cutting out after 2 seconds, is exactly what the immobilizer does, see my video, but of course I knew I had an issue, as I was installing the 2011 Supersports engine, transmission, and ecu's, the 2011 ecu's did not match my 2006 KESSY module skc/pins, so I reworked the 2011 ecu's to work.

Your issue is either the KESSY is or was wet at some point, or the same for your ecu's up at the cowl, or you have an issue with terminal 30 lack of power, or shorting out, like a wet KESSY, or ecu's.

V12diablo is infamous around these parts
I will check all the fuses tomorrow at both fuse boxes. Also once the drives seat is out is the carpet fairly easy to remove or is there any tricks to getting it out, I just don’t want to damage anything. I have come to realize this car is built totally different from any other car I have worked on. And thank you for all the help so far.

@V12diablo ,
It is not just the 2 fuse boxes, meaning the cowl and dash, also check all fuses above the house (left) battery, along with the mega fuses mounted on the house battery, there are also fuses mounted on the starter battery (right side).

As far as removing the seat, I would first remove the kick plate (hood release handle) trim, and sill plate to lift the carpet up to access the kessy module, if you do choose to remove the seat, PLEASE, put lots of heavy towels over the sill/rocker to protect it, the seat is awkward to remove from the vehicle.

If you choose to remove the carpet completely, be sure to remove the throttle kick down switch trim piece first, I broke one my first time, remove the 2 plugs to access the 2 screw heads for removal.
