Cracking on rear back bumper edges

Hi,

I've got a 2011 Mk1 Supersports that's only done 14,500 miles and is generally in excellent condition.

I've noticed recently two cracks that have appeared on either side of the rear bumper at the point where it joins the rear arch. The car has not had any rear impact (not even a nudge) and they look like stress fractures as it feels like there's a join plate just above the crack and no misalignment anywhere else in the area. The cracks are identical on both sides. Possibly the bumper has been removed prior to my ownership and badly replaced?

Has anyone had anything similar and did they get it sorted?

Many thanks

Unfortunately, the factory bumpers are pretty brittle. I had the same on one side and happened when I was rubbing off a scuff.

Looks like maybe someone tried to push them flush or something and cracked them or over tightened the screws inside.

Hi,

I think probably over tightening of screws, probably used a power tool.

Interesting to see if it has cracked all the way through under the wings.

Thanks

Cheers - the car's currently being serviced at my Bentley main dealer - I've asked them to take a look and give an opinion.

My local Bentley dealer sorted this out for me. They heated the spoiler and fused and repainted the cracks and added an additional backing plate for bracing to stop it reoccurring. Stress fractures they reckon.

Excellent. Always nice to have the car in flawless condition. Adds to the ambiance, as they say.
