Bentley Continental GT (2004) Trunk/Boot Button replacement

Hi everyone.

The boot button on my GT has never worked since i bought the car and it has been bugging me. So i took the plunge and bought (eBay) a new boot button for the much newer 2020-ish model of the Continental GT in the hope that i could somehow make it fit into the existing chromed metal boot emblem.

One hot afternoon later on the drive and i can confirm that part number 3SA.853.630.A will fit in the original metal boot emblem and with a bit of bravery, a drill and some files, the newer boot button will work just fine and be waterproof.

The hole was much neater than the photos when i finally reassembled everything.

I cut the old switch out of the rubber wing shaped seal of the just enough that the old seal sits just under the new switch body and then fitted the original badge over the new switch assembly.

Initial marking out and corner holes

Mid filing

Test assembly

Quite an easy job if you decide to have a go yourself.

Cheers

Gaz
