Cool Bentley GTC Wing Mirror issue

Hi

The passenger side wing mirror on my 08 GTC has started to play up when you try to fold the mirrors. When you fold them the mirror will strat to fold in the stop and when you fold outwards it doesn't go all the way. If you push it with light force it will fold in and out, just not on its own. All other functions work fine.

My bentley specialist has advised you can't replace the motor in the mirrors on the MK1, MK2 onwards its possible but interestingly Jack Barclay can sell me a new motor for £150.

Have tried to do some research on the web for any other info but nothing available.

Does anyone have any insight on if the motor can be replaced or is it a new, complete, wing mirror?

TVA

Can you squirt some WD-40 or similar in to see if just needs some lubrication?

I hadn't thus far tbh but will have a go. ive since found on eBay a dismantled unit that shows the bracket holding the motor for folding can be taken out, 3 hex screws. Surely if Bentley had to get these into the housing it would have been in a way that in the event of failure parts can be replaced, rather than the whole unit. Then again this is a Bentley, most things that would be normal in cars aren't with a Bentley lol

Tried wd40 and no joy. Another Main dealer has suggested the motor can be changed without a complete unit being bought and is checking the Bentley systems to confirm

whilst this has gone on my boot Lid motor has decided to pack up, not lifting all the way and closing again after opening about an inch. Have just had boot struts changed, which worked for about an hour, then back to this. Think it’s a new boot motor tbh, the joys…….
