looking for inspiration how to do it in elegant / aesthetic way.

Aesthetics are in the eye of the beholder but there are a number of options that plug into the OBD port and have various displays including using a head up windshield projector. Lots of options at aliexpress.com. For just voltage you can plug a display into the lighter socket and just open the ashtray to look at it.
