Suspension failure - front suspension stuck high and won’t lower
Suspension failure - front suspension stuck high and won’t lower
High guys, I’m desperately needing advice please! I reverently had new tyres put on the back of my 05 Continental GT and everything seemed normal at first. Then I went to take it for a drive and raised the suspension as I had extra passengers in the car. Now the front is stuck up super high and the back is down at the correct level. It’s now saying suspension failure WORKSHOP and won’t raise or lower the suspension at all. My car now looks like a boat with the back sitting nice and low and the front up so high. Can anybody give me any advice on what could be going wrong and what I need to do to fix it please? I’m completely lost for ideas. Thanks
Hello @JayB777 ,
Do you have Ross-Tech VCDS or ODIS VAS 5054 to scan the vehicle ?
Being that you had tires replaced, was the vehicle put into Jack-Mode prior to lifting the vehicle on the lift ?
Have you checked to see that all 4 of the level sensor rods are in place on each corner.
Also, not that it has anything to do with it, but it might, can you explain why you put it in lift mode just because you had people in the vehicle, as the system will always go to the proper height depending on the load in the vehicle, so, was the system working properly when the people got into the vehicle, or was it lower than normal, and that is why you put it in lift mode ?
A similar situation happened many years ago on a friend's vehicle, he had 3 other large passengers in the vehicle, the system pumped up to normal height, but when they all got out, the vehicle failed to lower, as the system locked out due to it's excessive height, he had to release the air pressure at each line to lower the vehicle, it was all good after.
If you have Ross-Tech VCDS then you can do output test and ventilation of the front and rear struts.
