Upgrading GTC mk1 to mk2

Thinking about upgrading my GTC MY 2007 to an mk2 model, 2012 onwards.
Has anyone done it? Is it worth it? Any remarkable differences?
Should I stick with the W12 or try the V8?
Any model years to avoid?

Not that I wanted to but, after Hurricane Ian flooded my '09 (Gen 1) six months ago, I bought a '16 (Gen 2) to replace it. The Gen 2 is basically a more refined version of the Gen 1 and I'm very happy with it. I have the W12 version but I would have been open to a V8 if I had seen one available. Some of the more noticeable refinements are better ride quality, improved seat positioning, touchscreen infotainment, GPS maps that are more modern and useful, & easy battery charger connection. There are maintenance & mechanical improvements as well that I should benefit from over time.
As to whether it's worth it, that's very subjective and I'd think would be tempered by the affordability of the upgrade. In my case, I was driven by the need to replace a totalled car for which I received a top dollar payout so the spread was "only" about $50K out-the-door for a clean low mileage car that I'll likely keep till the next flood. When I was searching there were no under 30K mile Gen 1's and none that appealed to me anyway. After looking at and driving a Gen 2 I was excited to find exactly what I wanted as pictured above. But in the end, if the Gen 1 hadn't been lost, I'd still be happily driving it for at least another few years.

Thanks @BruceR , you forgot to mention the cup holders ;-). But those are definitely the things I’m looking for. When you say better ride quality, what do you mean? Here in the UK, the car does not like potholes, I’m hoping the mk2 does better.

Good point about the cupholders. They are actually useful and I can have a wireless charger! Being placed in front of the armrests is a big improvement and another example of the refinements throughout. As for the ride, it seems to absorb the bumps better so might not be so jarring over potholes.
