I know this is an old thread. Just purchase an 08 GTC. Want to be 100% original. It did not come with any navigation discs. I ended up purchasing a USA/CANADA DVD. I put it in a player and it "ejected" after about 30 sec's. I was able to obtain a northamerica CD (from a mechanic). It accepts, but the readout is akwardly slow, ie, it only shows a map on ZOOM out. if I zoom in, the map goes BLANK. I'm thinking there is an issue with the player.

ANYWAY.. anyone know the part number for a '08 CONTINENTAL GTC DVD based player. I would like to swap in and be able to use the DVD disc?

I went through the same thing with my '09 when I first got it. For the '09 it was a DVD. Not sure when they switched from CD's. While it worked, the navigation on the Gen 1.. was primitive even for the time and I never used it.
In any case, the DVD players are readily available on ebay for less than $200 as well as the disks.
Here's one that includes updates:

Thanks for the reply.. but I am slightly confused. Are you telling me my disc is bad or my player is bad??? My guess is that I have a cd reader for NAV. IS there a part number for the DVD reader for NAV???? Any help would be appreciated...

The link is to the DVD but there are listings on that page for the CD version as well.
To clarify, when I first got my '09, the disk didn't work. I thought it might be the hardware but wanted to be sure. The dealer pulled a disk from another car and it worked. So you might try that before assuming it's the hardware.
If it is the hardware, there are plenty to be found on ebay. Here's one:
