Starter Generator

Has any one looked into a starter generator for our cars. They utilise the alternator in reverse to start the engine. They are becoming very popular on start stop engines.
Wouldn't it be great to have that as back up if the starter motor failed especially as you cant push start automatics.
Just putting the thought out there.
Frank.

Um, why?

Sounds like you are pursuing a solution to a problem that does not exist.

I suppose its because Im used to driving cars such as Ford Cosworths and 1960's vw's. It worries me that if we has a starter motor issue, which in a 16 year old car with the original starter it just waiting to fail, then your stuck
I only drive my car on long holidays twice a year. Each hoon is 5000 to 6000 miles long in the EU or Assia and its one one the issues that worry me.
