Starter Squeel!!
Make sure to hear it close from the engine when you start up. Maybe get someone start the car and you stand in the rear near the engine bay. Could be engine belt slipping. Starter use metal gear to crank so squeel doesn't sound like starter problem.
If the sound is not the typical belt slip and rather a short growl, yes, your starter may be over engaging an not retracting fast enough. $600 plus labor is why I know this. God bless x-tended warranty!
