2006 Bentley Continental Flying Spur front seat armrest

The front seat armrest on my 2006 Bentley Continental Flying Spur apparently works on a counterbalance mechanism. Many times, after I raise my armrests, they don't go back down as they should. Most times, they go down halfway, then lock. They can be raised back up, but most times when trying to lower, they lock stop halfway.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so, any ideas on what you did to correct it.

That is normal operation. The armrest must be raised completely in order to lay it flat.

See your Owner Manual for details.

I always raise it to the highest level, then bring it back down but it locks in some positions like halfway and won't go down any further. The only way to get it to go back down is to keep raising it all the way, then see how far it goes down when lowering. Sometimes, it can take 20 tries and I noticed the people that I bought the vehicle from also had the same issues.

It has to be a counterbalance malfunction. I can't see the builders installing a mechanism that goes down only by happenchance on an ultra-luxury vehicle and that be normal.

Try raising it quickly before lowering it. Sounds like an interlock is sticking.
