I thought I'd be ok with an aftermarket warranty, but now I'm going back through the excluded parts list and I see standard transmission clutch assembly, friction clutch disc and pressure plate and that seems to be a bit worrisome to me.
Is it me, or does this look like the whole transmission and not just the clutch:
As to your issue, your transmission does not have a clutch nor pressure plate, so the "standard transmission clutch assembly, friction clutch disc and pressure plate" does not apply to your vehicle, nor your automatic transmission, the clutch and pressure plate are for an actual standard transmission, meaning like old school with a clutch pedal, or like a Lamborghini with E-Gear standard transmission, your transmission has a torque converter as shown in the second link you posted, hopefully your issue is internal sensors and or mechatronics, your extended warranty should definitely cover the transmission in full.

The local Rolls dealership says we need a new transmission based on those codes.
I spent some time talking to Bentley Charlotte and based on the error codes and the description of the problem, they agree.
The real problem is that the Empire Auto Protect is telling the head mechanic that they won't approve a $53,000 repair bill ($35,000 transmission and $18,000 in labor) without dropping the transmission and opening it up for their "inspector".
Rolls says dropping the transmission is $10,000, and Empire says they're not going to cover the teardown even if they end up covering the repair.
Scuderia shows the transmission (link in OP) as a 23k part, not a 35k part, so there's that as well.
In subsequent conversations with the GM at RR, he says that the 10k price is to take the engine AND the transmission out, poke around, then put the engine and a new transmission back in.
Obviously my fear is that I'll spend 10k to drop the transmission and after their "inspector" has a look around he'll find anything and everything he can to not cover the repair.
So I'll be out the teardown money AND I'll still have a broken car.
In a best case scenario I'd only have to pay out of pocket for half of that because they'd cover the repair.
Bentley Charlotte thinks they're going to try to claim that the car had a pre-existing issue.
The dealership I purchased it had a documented 3rd party check-up on the car before we purchased it including pulling all the codes from the ODB2 and no problems were found.
I also had RR hook the car up and essentially do the same thing right after we took delivery and again, no error codes were present suggesting that there was a preexisting issue.
I'd say I've got a 50/50 chance of Empire covering the repair once the engine and tranny are out.
The Bentley mechanic thinks that tearing apart the transmission is stupid, but we might not have a choice.

Yikes all around.
I'm a little confused.
IiRC the 2017 model uses the same duel clutch 8 speed that all Bentaygas use.
They do have a clutch be it controlled by the control module.
They are available in the UK on ebay for not a significantly large amount.
Have you thought about a used transmission?
As to the 6 and 8 speed auto boxes with torque converter they have clutch packs in the transmission and the torque converter. It is the clutch in the torque converter that allows lock up of the converter controlled by the control module.
