Bentley Branded Ctek issue

Hi everyone, I've been using the magnetic Bentley branded CTEK maintainer for over 3 years on my 14 Flying Spur. It was working fine until earlier this week when it wouldn't go past stage two, even after being left for over 4 days. Usually, it gets to the green stage (4th stage) overnight, or in a few hours. When I came back from my vacation on Sunday night, I noticed that the charger was still on level 2 (4 days at this point), so I unplugged it and reset the charger and waited a few minutes, then I plugged it back in. However, this time the light was stuck on level one and was blinking, as if the battery wasn't good. My first thought was that the batteries in the car could be going bad(replaced in Sep 2022 at dealer), so I had those checked out by my indy. My indy told me that the batteries were completely fine, and were holding charge with no drain. What do you suspect could be problem? Thanks in advance!

If you have the magnetic connector use a cloth and a Q-tip dipped in alcohol to clean the pins on both the charger connector and, most importantly, the pins on the car's connector. The one on the car collects road grime and should be cleaned regularly.

Thanks. It seems to be working fine for now. Didn’t think it would be that simple lol!

Same here, was worried that there was a deeper issue😂. Now that I remembered, this also happened on my Bentayga a few years back, but the car was under warranty so the dealer didn’t charge me anything. I was wondering what they did to fix it. Guess this is what they did then! Thanks again.

hq_ is infamous around these parts
I've had a bunch of CTEKs for decades and they all seem to share the same issue, being extraordinarily sensitive to bad connection to the battery. Keeping connectors (and clamps) clean solves the problem, my secret weapon is PRF 7-78, a combined contact cleaner and lubricant in one. If there's severe oxidation it can be combined with light rubbing with a fine ("delicate") Scotch Brite pad.
