Android Head upgrade and lifetime Sirius
Android Head upgrade and lifetime Sirius
I have a 2012 Bentley Continental GT with the lifetime subscription to Sirius. Will be replacing the OEM head unit with an android unit which is fairly plug and play! It does not have native Sirius but I have been told that the app can be downloaded. However they have said that the easiest way to get sirius is to get the xm Sirius app on cell phone and use android auto. I don't know if the oem version has a user name and password that I could use on my cell for the latter solution or is it specific to the oem radio hardware. Has anyone had any experience in transferring the subscription from the OEM to a new radio head directly? Can it even be done?

My first GT was an '09 with the lifetime and I've transferred it twice so it can be done. But first, about the app; download the Sirius app or go to their website (my preference) to open an account if you haven't already. Then add your car to the account which should show up as a "Lifetime Trial." Once that's done you can start streaming through your phone to Android Auto/CarPlay.
As far as transferring the sub to a new unit, first try doing it yourself from the website. If you're lucky they'll allow it for a $35 transfer fee. If not, you'll have to call and you may face some resistance as I did when my '09 was lost to a flood and I wanted to transfer it to the '16 I replaced it with. It took about 30 minutes while they tried to tell me no and upsell me but finally a supervisor approved it and I was good to go with the $35 fee. When I replaced my '16 with a '20 I was able to do it all online in less than 5 minutes. YMMV.

Hello @madreg98 ,
I am a little confused by what you are asking, you are only replacing the Infotainment head unit, and the Sirius satellite radio module is NOT built into the Infotainment head unit itself, it resides in the trunk, as it is a separate module.
So, are you saying that the aftermarket Android unit doesn't support other inputs from the vehicle, such as Sirius, AMI, or CD player ?

Thanks for the reply, Johnny. The new unit supports other inputs such as CD and back up camera. I will be running Android Auto through bluetooth from my phone. I did not see any mention of Sirius on the sales sheet. So if there is a Sirius module in the car which is registered and I want to use it without going through Android Auto I need to locate the module, determine the type of output signal and see if I can use the auxillary input on the new head unit? It also has two USB connections for software upgrades. Does this sound correct and manageable?
Serius XM
I need to replace the original Infotainment unit on my 2014 and find none have “resident” Sirius XM, I understand that I can stream from my phone but would prefer using the XM module in the car.
