Gen 1 - In VCDS can you see Module 42 or 52 not just 46?
Gen 1 - In VCDS can you see Module 42 or 52 not just 46?
So I am trying to use 42 and 52 but I don't seem to get into them. For things like all the comfort options etc like windows and so on I tend to see them in 46 but ChatGPT is telling me I will get info in 42 and 52 but my controller wont recognise them and just errors.
Anyone else get access to them?

42 and 52 are the door electrics. But they only show a general status; they don't appear in the "Scan" list so there isn't a detailed report for them. Not sure if that's an oversight or intentional.

Hello @CUE99T ,
As Jeyjey said, they do not appear in the scan list, but do give status in the scan report, I myself have tried to access 42 and 52 in the past with no luck, I remember I called Ross-Tech about 42 and 52, but now realize I never got a response as to why, this was back in 2020 and in 2023, as @Randy V brought up the question of global closing for all windows, which got me thinking, as Randy had the 2009 door switch panel with the one global close button, and one child lock button, I was thinking, the switch doesn't know what it is, as it's just on or off, so I was thinking that I would just access address 42 for the driver's door control module and change the coding for global close if available, but I could never access 42, nor 52...
Ross-Tech is closed for lunch at this moment, I shall call in a few minutes to ask the question again.
Be right back.

Good man!!! Thanks for that!
So apart from my other thread where I describe the E40 Drivers panel Window Switch not allowing UP, I have a 2004 car and the drivers switch shows 2 windows with a cross through both but ChatGPT says one on left is lock all windows and the one closest to the driver in a LHD is for child lock of the rear windows. Thats why I wanted 42 and 52 access.
1️⃣ Rear Window Lock / Child Safety Lock(Often called “Rear Window Disable” in Bentley docs)

1️⃣ Rear Window Lock / Child Safety Lock(Often called “Rear Window Disable” in Bentley docs)
What it does:
- Disables the rear door window switches
- Prevents rear passengers from operating their windows
- The driver can still control the rear windows from the master panel
What it does not do:
- It does not physically lock the doors
- It does not affect front windows
2️⃣ All Windows Lock (Global Window Inhibit)
(Sometimes called “Window Lock” or “All Window Disable”)What it does:
- Disables all other window switches in the car
- Rear and passenger front switches are ignored
- Only the driver master switches remain active
