Vac system swap

Hi guys,
I was wondering, is it possible to swap out the 2005 vacuum system that's on top of the trans and put it in to the position of the later 2008 duty speed at the back of the head, etc.Is this something that can be done?

Hi @Frank ( Sunnyside ) ,
I read your other post in regards to the vacuum lines, so my question is, have you or do you plan to drop the engine transmission package to perform the work ?

As to if you can use the 2007 forward vacuum lines/solenoids setup in/on your 2005, yes, as that is just what I did, but mine was much simpler than I thought it was going to be, as I for some reason had it in my head that I had to stick with the over the transmission setup, well, I realized I was wrong after looking at so many engines to purchase, being my 2005 engine transmission package was completely removed, and all other vacuum circuits remained at the firewall, then all the required vacuum lines and solenoids for the engine side were mounted to the Supersports engine I purchased, and everything went into my 05 body just as my original engine was going in, because only certain vacuum lines with check valves from the intake go to the firewall circuits.

If you are not dropping the engine transmission package, than it may be a bit tougher, as there are lines from the turbos (iirc) that run very tightly down the rear of the block to over the transmission.

If you have your engine out, then I am sure you see what I mean, if not, I may be able to get you some pictures, just not right now, as it is colder than a >÷÷÷>÷<=& outside, 3°f with a minus 15°F wind chill...

Thanks Johnny.
Great answer.
I wasnt planning on taking out the engine however there are so many issues forming its going to be the best solution.
1 rh Primary cat could do with coming off to be emptied out. Lh side dosnt have a cat.
2. This pesky oil leak could do with further investigation.
3. I found smoke testing today another vac leak fron behind the engine. I belive from near the rack. I spent 4hr with a scope but cant find it.
SO im thinking about bitting the bullett and getting the motor dropped.
At this point I want to run the later vac system. Move both N75 valves. Move both O2 sensors further down the exhaust where they can be reached from under the car easily. I want to add secondary O2 spacers as well.
Remove the LDP and Carcoal canisters etc.
Any info on the later vac system anx pics would be great.
TBH.I should have spent a few more £K and bought a better donor car. But it is what it is
Frank
