feedback from anyone who has driven/owned both?

 

They are completely different beasts. The M3 feels a lot tighter in the turns. The M3 feels a lot lighter as well. Yes I know it IS lighter, but you can really tell the difference. The M5 feels sluggish compared to the M3. The M5 has more room, and the SMG is great (in my opinion) when it is driven like it is supposed to. The 6 speed on the M3 is like butter. The catch is pretty high on the clutch, but you will adjust to it. Overall, I prefer the M3 over the M5. Before the M3 Sedan came out, I thought why would someone get an M3 sedan when they can get an M5. Once I spent some time in the M3, it became quite apparent at how different these two beasts are. I highly recommend you test drive them both so that you can create your own opinion on them. The M3 is my kinda car, but it might not be your cup of tea.
