Which M3 would you take?
Autotrader shows 109 E46 M3s for under $30,000 with less than 45k miles; 27 of those cars have less than 30k miles;12 of the 27 are 2003 or newer.
I'd try to get a Better deal on the 92. But having a high end car w no warranty is financial ruin. Money pit. Personal experience and observing friends in the situation. My experience was with a modded BMW also.
If you look at my post, that was one of my cons of the e92 m3...its not worth 70K...i think 60K with options would be the price point where i would buy one new. its just not worth the money new, plain and simple-same as how i dont feel like the m5/m6 are worth 100K. its my opinion, but i know i am not alone. you can see that there are plenty of people who dont think the m3 is worth the money by the sheer volume of them sitting on dealership lots and the amounts of discount (people say as high as 6K off msrp) people are getting. when I nearly bought one the first 2 weeks they were out, i was getting 2K off msrp AND a free BMW m performance driving school (2995) thrown in.

Looking at the whole situation I would say CPO E46 for now until more CPO E92 go on the market. But honestly in Canada the M3 is a bargain at 69K base price its a steal compared to the 94K RS4(base).

I'd take the E92. However, I wouldn't want to option it up to $70k. I'd be perfectly happy with a $60k car.
The idea of a 750hp turbo E46 doesn't really appeal to me. I'd be worried about reliability and longevity, and would not fully appreciate all that power. Drag racing and freeway pulls would get old after a while.
For a toy car that would not be a DD, I'd rather have a stripped out 500hp Evo set up for the track.

the interior is very cold and clinical feeling. its doesnt have the warmth or driver orientation the e46 m3 does, and it doesnt even begin to compare to the masterpiece that its competitor in audi does with interiors.
