Black out grill for my M6 - Photos of the new Grills

So, the previous owner had the silver front grills painted black, and it looked great, but now the paint is flaking off.
I think if I just repaint it, the same problem will occur. So, has anyone purchased aftermarket flat black grills,
I'd appreciate if you let me know where you got them, and how they are holding up.

Thanks,

Howard

I painted my M5 grilles black the paint hasn't came off yet. I would try repainting them with a thicker coat of paint good luck!

did they strip the silver finish before painting? the paint shouldn't flake if done properly.

Sounds like they didn't prep them correctly. Mine were painted almost a year ago, no problems.
I have a pair of carbon fiber ones for an M6 that I didn't put on if you are interested.

The silver was NOT stripped off, which is why it is not holding up.
I just ordered from Autotechnik a set of matt black grills, not too pricey.

John, what do you want for the carbon fiber set?

Rock chips will occur depending on where you drive and who you drive behind. I have a painted grill but am considering this one here:

what paint do you guys use?

there is a rubberized paint called Plasti-Dip (found at Lowes). It holds up very well
and has a matte black look. But it is important that you sand down the silver finish
before applying it, so that the paint has something to stick to.

Was a little tricky getting the grills off, trying to squeeze my fingers inside to release the clips, but I got them off

See how the paint was just flaking off

New grill fit in perfectly, looks amazing
