I would say go for the boxster S, I drove it for 4 years and had lots of fun with the car, especially the handling.

Thanks for the input...looking at an 03 M3 Carbon/Black 6spd Coupe..40K miles excellent shape, few minor rock chips on the front, all records, 2 owners, 19 inch wheels (no curb rash at all), cold weather package, new tires, inspection 1 done/needs 2...I have driven several, and this one drives great. 24k??

I personally like the way that the M3 drives over the Boxster S. And the E46 body style is really nice, where I was never really a fan of the Boxsters rear.

the feel of the Boxster S blows away the M3... the Boxster feels like a pure sports car with its balance and poise... and a lot of other characteristics that are unique to the Boxster S.... the M3 is a great car as well... doesn't feel as good... feels like a beefed up 3 series ( a job well done by BMW) but if its pure fun your looking at Boxter S all the way...

I have to agree, if its for a "3rd" car, might as well get the Boxster S. Its definitely more fun to drive than a M.

It depends on two factors, if you want to make a straight line car and/or take more the one person with you buy the M3. If you want a car that corners and you would only take one extra person with you then go with the Boxster S.
