can't beat the mid-engine howl and balance of a Boxster S with the top down. Great car and more fun to me than an E46 M3.

Thanks for the reply. I enjoy driving them both, but keep going back to the M3 because of the back seats, and the extra room if needed. I have spent more time in the M3, and would like to hear the pro's of having the boxster instead of the M3.

Oh if you need a daily driver then the M3 is more useful I agree. I just thought this was more for a 3rd/fun car is all

Pros are: handling is brilliant. It's a vert. Engine/sound. Brakes and balance...

would be a 3rd car, but may use it for road trips as well

The fun factor is the most important though. They really are very different cars in my opinion, but they are the same price and I enjoy driving them both. I posted the same thread in the boxster forum so I am anxious to hear what both fans have to say.

Thanks again for your input

for road trips, the Boxster is more functional than you might think. I went from a Boxster S to a C4S and the Boxster definitely has more storage space because of the dual trunks. if I recall, you can fit a carry-on luggage in the front as well as the back.

If you have more than one person to carry (i.e. the kids), then the M3 is for you.
I have an M3 'vert (but am considering a Cayman S). And it is, by far, the best people space/performance top down car I drove.

boxster S

although it might not be as quick as the M3 in a straight line, they handle extremely well out of the box.

I've owned both and would definitely go for the Boxster S.

Great handling, enough room, and fun to drive.

X2

E46 M3 price is really great, you can get it in mid $20's for a well kept one.
