m5/rs4
m5/rs4
Hello im new here!
Im debating on an m5 or rs4.
2007/2008 rs4 with under 18k miles i can find for under 50k
The m5 would have to be a 2006 with no warranty as well as around 40k in miles if not more for around 52-55k
Both cars are beautiful. Im not really sure what car to get.
If you could give me your opinion on the cars and what you could recomend that would be great!!
Thanks

Just like everyone has said your pricing is a little off. I love Audi and currently own a pretty fast one right now. But I was choosing between the two just like you till I really got to drive a RS4. Can not even compare the two. M5 takes it, well other then I love the RS4 interior. Now I am debating on between a CLS55 or M5.haha.
Guys - my M5 is for sale on here in the for sale section. '06 black/black/aluminium; SMG; 23k miles; one full year of warranty/maintenance left; priced to sell quickly at $49K; the car is in phenominal shape. Only reason I'm selling is I just want to get back into a two door sportscar (a 997s to be exact).

I was deciding between these same exact cars about a year and a half ago. My wife used to own an '05 S4 and we loved it, so I was initially leaning toward the RS4. Beautiful interior, great styling, overall beautiful car. I'm also a hard core BMW guy, so the M5 was an obvious choice as well. But no matter how much time I spent looking at pictures and reading various forums about comparison, driving each car for just a few minutes made up my mind IMMEDIATELY. After a couple blocks and 2 corners, i knew which car was better FOR ME.
The RS4 drove nice. Very predictable and plenty of power, but more of a smooth delivery, nothing that necessarily made you get that rush feeling inside (this is coming from a Supra Turbo, so I guess I had high expectations). Car is very tossable and forgiveable, and will make anyone look like a great driver. I didn't like the nose plow and i was hoping that it would have been more balanced out of the box (over the S4). Of course, thats not a huge problem and it can be solved by some suspension tuning, but still...
I then got behind the wheel of an M5. A lady I work with tossed the keys over and told me to see how I liked it (she also owns a Ferrari 430, I drove that too. WOW!!!!). Jumping on it, I immediately knew that it was the car for me. It felt more raw and powerful in a straight line, and I absolutely love how tossable it is, allowing you to throw the back end around corners. Its not as forgiving as the RS4 and will bite you if you have the electronic assistance turned off, but it was SOOOO much more fun. It is also a much bigger car, which was a bonus for me. I had a baby on the way and a car seat in the back of the Audi was a tighter squeeze.
Not sure if this helps, but its my review/comparison of the 2. Go drive them both and you will immediately know which is the right car for you. Reading about it won't solve your problem, trust me.
Good luck
(No regrets after putting about 12K miles on the M5. Still having as much fun with it today as I did the first day I got it)

D-rock without a doubt go for the M5.
I own both (did sell the RS4) still have the M5. They do not even compare in performance. The RS4 is nice, predictable and good power but was NO threat. At the time there were no mods that made power and got tired getting beat by modded E46 M3's. Now I understand there's a SC'er for the RS4.
The M5 in comparison is a beast. Keep in mind the weight of the M5 is only 250 lb greater. The M5 engine screams.
BTW you can get a much better price than $52-54K for an 06 M5. Stand firm at $45K.
Best of luck with the search.
