evosport - e46 M3 S/C Track Car Build 1 (Wild)
Hey all! We have been uber busy over the summer, and a lot of that has been working on a bunch of new track cars. I posted a teaser thread on three of the cages we were working on, and this is a more detailed thread on the wildest of the three cars.
Background:
This car came to us from VA a long while ago. It was our prototype car for our S/C system, which morphed into us partnering with VF engineering (our built motor and their S/C parts). Along the way we have done a lot of trick bits, but the car was basically in limbo waiting for a custom Chip Foose paintjob and wide-body (we have done some work on tuning some of Foose's cars and he happens to live near me, so we had access to him to do this). However, the owner of the car decided that he wanted a fast track car (as they had some other potent street weapons).
Here are some images along the way of the build to date:
Here it is at Bimmerfest:

Here is is at the Euro Tuner GP (where Cort Wagner drove it and it won the event!!!!)

Here are some images of the motor:

Here is the car at SEMA in the Bridgestone/Praxis booth:

Here is the super slick AIM dash install in the cluster:

will post that info when we get to that point! Lots to do still before we know the answers. At least 500whp/500wtq though at the conservative setting. Projecting 2650-2700 wet without driver.

That is the old style manifold from when we were doing our own set-up (we also did them in CF!).
We are now using the VF manifold. We will use a larger radiator for the water than the standard VF set-up due to the track nature of this car.

Did it ever make any power for a NA car? I remember you started a thread about playing with it, a-la CSL intake manifold, but don't remember any results being posted.
Sweet job you guys did on those two cars.
Yes, CF manifold is so nice. On the NA cars, we just could not see any tangible gains to justify the cost. 5whp for 3-4K was not justifiable sadly.
On the FI cars, we could not keep the manifolds together, they kept blowing at the seam with the heat exchanger.
Not finished yet. More pics as we keep progressing!

How much larger is the water radiator you're going to use? Still use all the normal VF mounting points? Cost? I track my car with the VF stage 2 and having a larger heat exchanger wouldn't be a bad thing...
Ok, quick update.
We are almost there on the cage.
Some gusseting on the B-pillars:

And the wing supports: (we tie them into the frame rail and the cage to maximize wing efficiency as the unibody or trunk lid have way too much flex for us)

And we skin the trunk to save weight:

More to come next week!
Thanks
