M5 vs M3

I noticed that E39M5 and E46 M3 are selling for around the same price.

I don't know if the topic has already been discussed, but for the same price, what's the best choice between the 2?

fun factor, dd factor

depends on what you want, style wise, performance wise...imo if your looking for a great DD car that can tear it up every now and again m5 hands down...if you want a blazingly fast car m3 with some boost and you won't go wrong...decisions decisions lol

Do you want a 4 door or a 2 door. If you like 4 doors, the E39 M5 was one of the funnest cars I've had. I still haven't been sold on the e60 design, but the e39 is a great car, with fun power, loads of torque, plenty of room... keeps going. You know, your at the price range where the E55 is another interesting car. I've seen quite a few w/ CPO warrantys up to 100K miles for cheap. But ultimately for me, having a 6 speed manual in the M5 was a an awesome toy for daily driving and weekend spirited driving. Sheiiittt, every day was spirited driving for me. haha

I had a 2000 M5, never had problems with it. Good luck. E39 hands down winner over the E46 M. The M5 is just more unique in my oppinion.

Had this same situation.. thats why I ended up with both.

The M5 is an excellent car. I loved it to death. The interior was perfect, so comfortable to drive and was godly fast. Had plenty of low down torque and grunt. Crazy highway monster. It was fukken awesome. Just be careful about the repair bills down the road.

The M3 has a little less of a lux. interior. It gets the job done. Very simple and very base. It was very high revving and I loved the manual gearbox. It is fast as hell and handled like a go kart compared to the M5. The repair bills are also high too. It was a 2 door coupe, I love it. And still do to this day.

So it come down to what you need. If you have kids, get the M5. If not, go with the M3. You wont regret the choice you make. I would definitely get another M5. Super sleeper. I only need to sell my M3 now.. hehe
