Hi Guys,

I am looking for a practical DD.

I am considering an M5 or CLS 55 AMG. I will have $8k (even more if needed for something special) on top for mods (wheels, lowering , exhaust + anything else).

I test drove both and could not make up my mind. I liked everything about the M5 except the lack of torque and this stopped me from pulling the trigger. The CLS 55 AMG has the torque, but the traction control always gets in the way, especially since the roads were a little wet on my test drive.

My main criteria are as follows:

- Looks

Exterior: (mean, low to ground and agressive), both cars will be black with black wheels (black centers and brushed lips)?

Interior: Comfort and Luxury (quality of leather and trim)

- Power (push your head through the seat)

I know the CLS has a kleeman package that supposably gives 630 hp and 731 torque. I have no idea what the cost is, but then i sw this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svu8f...eature=related

This is a tough one and I could really use some help.

Your thoughts?

 

stock for stock the M5 kicks the crap out of a CLS...handling/braking/highway blasts.....true the CLS55 has more torque for around town driving.....
I dont know prices in the UK but you are not getting a K4 package here in the states for 8k....

that m5 sounds incredible,.. i drove the cls a few times, the only thing i really liked about it was the interior, the exterior doesn't look to bad either, but the m5 seems to the better car imo

 

Does anyone know how much it costs for each of the G-power supercharger systems for the M5 ?

kleeman k4 cls55 is an absolute monster...instant torque but lacks an LSD... which you can get out of your 8K remaining... i vote for the cls 55 k4 car

 

The Kleeman package would eat up the 8k budget. How much is a decent LSD?

I also just found out the M5 in the video has the Evosport Stroker engine so that explains things.

 

wait so the cls is stock and the m5 is stock? or is the cls55 a k4 car but cost 8k more?

The cars cost the same stock.

With the $8k mod budget I would buy the Kleeman K4 Package (I think the price is around $8k or $9k) for the CLS 55 AMG.

All I could find for the m5 was the g-power supercharger and that is way out of budget.

 

in that case...i would go for the m5 and do exhaust,filter, tune instead

 

I've been away from the M5 forums a while, but Evosport doesn't make a stroker.

I'm not a huge MB fan in general, but I do have to say they did good with the CLS styling. Had an M5. Loved it. That being said, at this point I'd go with the CLS just because it's different for me and the torque (or lack thereof) in the M5 always bothered me.

 

I had M6, now have new M3 as daily driver. i also have ML63 AMG and have to admit that i'm no longer a fan of MB. have had many issues with my AMG, hasn't been a reliable car, customer service has not been on the same level as BMW. i doubt i'll buy another MB. just my 2 cents.

I wish there was a way to get more torque out of the m5, even for $10k in mods
