iDrive just died...
Not exactly a ///M car but will post this for opinions/experience anyway since all newer Bimmers have iDrive...(hoping this won't happen to you of course)
The iDrive in my wife's 06 330i recently just died. Basically, didn't start up as usual when you fire up the car. There are moments that it came back up for a few minutes before the screen started fading and eventually went dead again. What REALLY sucks about this is the loss of most convenience features...stereo, parking sensors, phone connectivity...all gone. This is with the SOS light on as an indicator.
I did some research and tried the 3-button reset, didn't work. It might have cleared the SOS light, but no effect to the iDrive unit.
Has this happened to you? Or aware of any fixes? Just want to get the public opinions, before dealers or shops rip me apart.

CCC unit is the controller for MOST bus. IE. fiber optic BUS in the car. It reside behind the center of the dash, also combines both CD/DVD drives. Seperately available parts for that unit (they fail quite a bit)..
However if you still have sound (audio) and feedback from the iDrive controller, the display (CID) is a likely failure.
You need diag. time from a good Indy or BMW dealer. ISTA or AutoLogic is necessary to get this fixed right without guess work. CCC reset is both eject buttons and audio on/off. Sounds like you tried that, which is the first step. Rest is out of your hands.
