White BMWs with M stripes added (vinyl)?

What do you guys think about putting tasteful (if possible) M Stripes on a white BMW 335i coupe?

For example, I like the line around the lower part of the door here:

But I don't like what's on the hood. Any thoughts? Has anyone seen any subtle examples?

Some more:

This was at the car show this weekend. The beauty of vinyl is that you can change it up if you don't like it, or just change it up for a different look from time to time.

Haha... good point. Well, BMW is taking it that way themselves now.

They are coming out with cars like the M550d (triple-turbo diesel!) under the newly formed M Performance Automobiles division to take regular production cars up to one hairy step just shy of a full-on M tune...
http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/24/2...-drive-review/

I figure if you have a 335i with over 400 hp, the stripes are a nice tribute to the M Performance Auto group, and not as cheesy as putting an actual (fake) M badge on the car's decal.

What do you think, is the stripe worse than a fake badge? I thought of the stripe as a tribute and a way to dress up a boring white machine, but others might take it differently.

T

Ps. I do not have a white 335i, was just thinking about it for a friend who does have a white one that is tuned nicely.

Any more opinions from some of the pictures in the links?

Also, how easy is it to do vinyl yourself - or, how much should it cost for subtle stripes like the above?

I love paying homage to the old CSL stripes and bimmer race cars. If I was going to do stripes the car couldn't be a stock car, it would need some modifications (nice wheels and a drop might be enough to pull them off).

Has to be an M car to pull it off, imo.

I think it's risky. You can easily make it look ricey but if you can do it right go with it.

Absolutely!!! Looks fabulous and you have a hot car. This is the color of the motorsport spirit. You aren't posing M just because of the colors.

disagree - if it looks, quacks or poops then it SHOULD start out as an M car - otherwise it's POSING - period
