New to BMW and M
Hello guys,
Last week I put an order for a Silverstone e92 6mt. This will be my first bmw as I come from a Cayenne (still have) and a previous Cayman S. The car should be here late may - early June. Already getting some cosmetic bits and a proper exhaust.

Haha, this made me laugh. I am still learning the M ways, have not pinpointed the rivals yet.

Grats. What exhaust are you getting?
M3 is an awesome car. However, if you plan to keep the car after warranty expires, I would get an extended warranty
BMW is one of the least reliable German car I have had. Lots electrical issues and Suspension issue on front control arm and rear trailing arm. Worst part is that these are issues for decades and BMW just chooses to ignore. Suspension issues every 30-50k mi is unacceptable

I've owned 5 BMWs going back to 2001 and have probably put nearly 300k on them combined and have never had even the slightest issue with them. This is by far a YMMV situation. I've owned 3 series, 5 series and M going back to E46.
My experience with the m cars has been the same...I had an e39 m5 for nine plus years and only had a couple of relatively minor repair items other than standard care, and so far my e92 m3 is on the same sort of path. The m3's have been particularly reliable so far, and even the dual clutch has not been a source of problems.
Congrats on the car. I have an e90 M3 and no issues so far. IMO, the E9x platform is as solid as they get. If you had decided on an E60 M5, then I would argue a little more about reliability; however, this shouldn't be the case for you.
Good luck.
