M5 vs E 63 AMG

In the market, but need some help.

Any one here who has had both a E63 and the M5 and can comment on them. I will probably manual shift 50% of the time and want to know how the shifting experience is and how intuitive the computer is in downshifting in automatic mode and "reading your mind."

Thanks

What generation cars are you talking about? You need to clarify.

I have had a E60 M5 (SMG) and currently have an 08 E63 AMG (standard 7 speed torque converter automatic). Of the two, the SMG is much sportier for auto or manual shifting via paddle controls in a sporty context (using the most sporty settings). Still, the Bimmer SMG is an absolute dog if you want to drive it smoothly around town, to the point that your SO or GF will ask you "what the hell is wrong with this car??..."

Hope this helps a little.
