Wow that is pretty sad, most cars you just mash the gas and go. On this thing you have to program it to be in the right mode?? No offense but kind of sounds dumb to me.

its mounted on the firewall directly behind the accelerator. with the car off, push the accelerator as far as it will go, you should feel it pushing/resting against a raised button like object, push the accelerator down harder so as to push the button down as well. its called a kick down button and in automatic bmw's, if you punch it and activate this button, the car drops down a gear straight away. [i think thats its purpose]

but in the m5, you have to push this button down to activate the launch control.

play aroud with it [ somewhere empty and deserted]

and make sure your m settings are as the others have stated.

no kidding. i'm with u on that. BMW sure likes to make things complicated.
