160,000 miles on my 91 and not a problem other then standard stuff. As for it being a car that is followed around, not a chance its invisible to the public. Not one comment on the car in the time I had it other then "when did they start making a 2 door 7 series".

Very comfortable on the freeway for a 90's car, now its probably comparable to a few year old lexus.

I though this topic was pretty interesting as I currently own two- '95 850 csi and a '97 850 ci. The S70 and M73 engines are VERY reliable assuming you take care of them- just like any low-volume production engine. I disagree with the poster regarding the eight cylinder engines. They are fine, but not exactly super. They weigh less than the 12 cylinder engines though.

The CSi has 115K miles on it and when the heads were off for a freshening, not a rebuild mind you, you could still see the cross hatching on the cylinder bores. One of the posters above is right- they are not drag kings, they are super GT's. One thing is sure, you rarely come across another one on the road.

They can be found fairly inexpensively, but the biggest issue is regular, preventative, maintenance. Records are a must. Like a lot of things in life, you get what you pay for.

I owned a 96 840 silver/gray. It was a wonderful car. I had 19inch Racing Dynamic wheels on it. At the time, 19's were "holys**t look at that car" big. Steam roller 315's in the rear. It was an attention getter for sure. Great car with no issues. Think about it often. Only wish I had it now.

All the best

I loved these cars in the late 90s! The car still looks great for a 17 year old car... Not sure if anyone's actually looking, but a friend of mine has a very nice specimen from 91 he's looking to sell. Ad here.

For those who had/have owned 850 Csis, were they only available with 6 speeds and weren't they very low production? Also were they only a one year production model?
Bolt,I would love to see a pic of your 850 CSi.

thx
Kris
