Independent BMW M-car Tech in the Bay Area?
Hello,
I'm a new member here but I've been lurking for a while and now I need some help~! (you can find out more about what happened to my car here: http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=151329 ). I was just wondering if anyone knew any independent BMW M or exotic car techs in the bay area that I could call on who would be willing to accompany me to a BMW dealership and oversee some tests that they are going to do on my car to make sure the dealer is not BSing me or not doing the tests correctly. Thanks!

I don't know an indy shop but I have some comments.
Why not just get Stevens Creek to give you a 100K warranty on the engine? Pretty simple, straight up, and would make you sleep better. Thats the whole point right?
I own an early E46M3. During the whole S54 blowing up days. BMW - to put us at ease slapped a 6 year 100K warranty on everything that touched engine oil.
Background Info:
For the past 5 years I've had ALL M3 major recalls and services done at Mountain View BMW. Some months ago my SA from Mountain View BMW went to SCBMW. I needed an oil service recently and went to SCBMW. (I like my SA) Didn't have any problems.
A friend went to buy a car there last week. I tagged along got a tour of "the shop". Very nice presentation. I guess they need to work less on the presentation and more on getting properly trained techs.
After reading your experience. I might be going back to Mountain View.
