Front lights a lil different, rear lights have those wicked tube like red lines ala 6 series or new X5, center console is much more neater, fron door panels design changed. I think thats about it.

Wow, it's surprising that BMW facelifted an M car in its 2nd year of production. The E46 M3 stayed the same throughout its entire life cycle even though the standard 3 Coupe got new headlights. It's a minor change, but still, it might indicate that BMW will facelift the M3 in the middle of its life cycle this time around.

actually not necessarily true. previous gen m5's also went through a facelift. so if history repeats itself, you won't see a change in the new m3 either.... but seriously, you probably will... i think the competition is a lot stiffer now than it was 5 years ago when bwm was really the only serios player in these narrow segments...

The 5-series line has a facelift inside and out for `08 models which will be here in the US in a month or so. The M5 just happens to be a 5-series also...same thing happened with the E39 M5. It came to the US as a 2000 model then in 2001 the E39's were updated. You also have to remember the E60 M5 came out as a 2005 model in Europe, not an `06 like in the US.

To the OP, sweet M5!!

Understood. The E39 update, however, simply changed the taillights to CELIS LED's and the headlights to the newer style with "angel eyes." This update seems a bit more major with changes to the interior. Did they also change the shape of the front bumper cover and fenders for a new headlight design?

The E46 M3 was given the "facelift" trunk with the longer trunk handle and LED taillights, but it did not get the "facelift" headlights and fenders.

This is an update of headlights, front bumper (at least for the non-M), some interior trim (E39 did similar stuff also including the Nav setup) and probably a few little things I can't remember. Anyway, it's nothing major.
