Exactly and even the M6 is far from a sports car , it is a very fast GT coupe...SMG it would be for me..

@Marc997GT3: I think you are mistaken! It's not a waste of time. The SMG is great, but IMO it loses a certain character that comes with driving a manual. It's really up to personal preference, I enjoy the involvment of using the clutch and shifting through the gears, and making perfect downshifts. It's more fun to me.
agreed, let us know how it is...i'm not out to be a half second faster than the next guy down the straight...its all about personal preference and right now I prefer to row

i'd agree with this statement... And i'd like to add SMG is no fun when it shuts down into auto mode during a 90+ degree trackday...f1 in anything less than a fcar right now is soley suited for tooling around town and spirited weekend drives IMO

I completely agree! manual is just so much fun. drive my car which is a full NA setup minus cams and throttle bodies, SMG wouldnt do it justice.

i would agree though on the big sedans/gts, they dont need a 6mt, they need smg, an m3 on the other hand DOES need 6MT.

I just got back home! Car is amazing!!
Yes it is a heavier GT, it is not a sports car, but I still enjoy a good spirited drive with a 6 as opposed to SMG. I just love the feeling of shifting through the gears, I feel more involved! For me the stick is the only way to go! But hey, whatever tickles your pickle!

I will post pics tomorrow afternoon!

Excellent! I am honestly amazed with BMW, I do not drive the 745Li that much and when I get back in it I am always impressed with its' agility considering how large the car is and its 4500+ pounds.

I am sure the M6 would give more than one or two dedicated sports cars a run for their money.

my left knee has been hurting on and off lately and i am wondering if it is related to driving a stick all the time. some days it is not noticeable at all, others, it just plain hurts. one of the reasons i have been considering the m3 vert as my next car cuz i can get it with the smg which should alleviate any problems. but before i do that i suppose i should go to the doctor and get it checked out, cuz i do enjoy the manual better.
