PCM2 to retrofit

HI all,
I'm thinking to retrofit my 2007 porsche boxster 987 with a PCM2 navigator module.
I've seen that this is quite possible, difficult is to find exactly the compatible module. (with, w/o bose, ampl issue, ecc). Now I've just the CDR24 without bose system.
Anyone of you did do that without problem?
Any suggest to find on line shop or dealer to buy the PCM2?
I've seen that here in USA is simplier to find porsche parts accessories, instead of Europe I mean..
Thanks
Toni

I have Bose and i changed my CDR-24 for PCM2.1 with Nav - No issues. Suncoast got me the parts and i installed it and then had Porsche code the PWIS. Will run to 3K most likely if you want to do it.
Good luck!

It sound like PCM 2 it's not the correct hardware right?
and it's necessary the PCM2.1?
I thought that the PCM2 was easierto install (my car hasn't bose) because it hasn't separate DVD driver.
But I don't know if my ideas are right.
Sorry what is the PWIS? A code to unlock the system?

Thanks

Hi the PCM for a 987S is 2.1 There are 2 units - one for Bose Cars, one for Non-Bose.
PWIS is the system that Porsche use to programme our cars and you will need them to activate.
You also need to be careful to makesure if you are doing NAV and PCM that the versions of code on the PCM and NAV are compatible.
If you need more information PM me and i will answer anything else you need.
My advice - Contact Ric from Suncoast Porsche who helped me do my PCM, NAV, Sirius and Bluetooth install..

I found a low price PCM 2.1, part# 997.642.143.10 that is for a bose system (the same for no bose is the part# 997.642.141.10 ).
Someone says that is possible to use that part also in a no-bose system, just to re-coding the PCM using PWIS,
Is it really true?
Do you have experience regarding this issue?

I almost 100% certain that you CANNOT use a bose PCM in a non-bose Car. It cannot be coded to work but you can change a non-bose PCM to work in a Bose Car.

I just red that.
But I red aldo this thread:
http://www.planetporsche.net/cayman-...-decision.html

suneet says:
"there were actually 2 PCM2.1B revision units for the Boxster (B-units play mp3's) that didn't have amplifiers built in...
997.642.143.03 and 997.642.143.02 are the two"

The 997.642.143.10 could have the ampli inside?
