what are good prices on used caymans

There are starting to have a little more caymans on the used market. Looking for a cayman s with decent options. Lowest price i see on autotrader within 300 miles of me is a 2006 model for $47k with 5k miles. Should I wait till early 2008 and what price will it approx be then.

I'm selling my 02 E46 M3 due to its age

just contacted a local dealer and they have 11 6spd cayman s available at $9,800 off sticker...2007 models. I didn't even haggle, their internet dept guy started off $9k..then he said $9,800 for any of the white ones. Man..this might be too good to pass up. Was originally going to get a used '06 for $48k but 2007 brand new at $9,800 off ftw

test drove one. It was okay, power was similar to my m3 but clutch engagement was low. I didn't like the interior quality but its livable but I do have a problem with leg room for the left foot. Usually there is enough room to strectch my left leg out but the cayman has no room between the foot rest and the clutch. Also on edmunds it says the cayman is rated at highbdepreciation vs the carrera. That said i have a deposit on a black on black with 42 miles for 10k off msrp. Will prob look for a 911 05 between. Now and the end of the week.

That is interesting on the '07's. It seems like a good price. I have been seeing 06's used for low 50's / high 40's. I would probably try to find a used one loaded (original MSRP in the mid 70's). You should be able to get one with under 10k miles for 50ish. If you aren't impressed with the interior, try to find one with the full leather package (leather dash, doors, etc.) I think that dresses up the interior.

when i checked autotrader..the cheapest was like an 06 with 11k miles for $48k asking. I figure for $4k more I might as well get an 07 with 42 miles on the odo...but now after looking at edmunds i'm swaying towards getting a used 997 non-s for $55-$60k. I see prices for 05's with <20k miles for 55k-mid 60's and i'm wondering if it'll drop more when 08 rolls around. Psychologically its now a 3 year old car vs 2 years at 2007.

dunno..what a dilemna

Must be a geographical thing. Local prices are 07 heavy options S's with low miles in the $57K range. 06 models are at least $10K cheaper. You will enjoy moving to the P-car from the M3. I have had both and the Porsche is just a different/better car. GOOD LUCK on the purchase either way!

06s, average options = mid-50s generally. I paid 58ish for mine but I had to get it from a dealer...but I did get the CPO and extended 100k warranty, so there's that.

thanks for the replies...i decided to go with a 05 997 instead and cancelled my deposit on the cayman. In So. Cal they are pushing the caymans out...they all came down to about same price off which was $10,500 so it just depends what color/options are available. Most of the remaining 07 stock were base + premium + auto climate so they range from 52-54k before TTL. Places specifically giving those deals were Pasadena Rusnak, Beverly Hills Porsche, and Downtown Porsche
