on the 986, the real porsche side markers are smoked. to match the headlights.
only the knock off markers are clear.

Those babies are smoked. The ones i put on my 987 are clear (zero tint), and I think I got them from Sunset.

it doesn't look like it matches the headlights at all

are the clear tails (03/04) also really a smoke color? i personally think clear would look better against seal rather than blending in....

The factory clear side markers for the 986 (earlier Boxsters) are smoked. The factory clear side markers for the 987 (later Boxsters) are fully clear. If you get the clear headlights or Litronic (xenon) headlamps for your earlier Boxster, the trim at the bottom of the clear headlamp unit will be smoked, to match your side markers.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about...my car:

The rear tail lights on 03 and 04s are clear. Here is how your seal grey car would look with the matching set of clear headlights:

I think the smoked ones look great. I have the OEM ones on my 97 with litronics on a Arctic Silver and they complement each other very well. I havent really seen any clear ones that I have liked. My frined with a Cayman wants the same smokoed ones as well.

OEM replacements are smoked. I wanted clears, but the dealer said ""smoked or amber."
