Are "clear sidemarkers" really smoke?

The factory clear side markers for the 986 (earlier Boxsters) are smoked. The factory clear side markers for the 987 (later Boxsters) are fully clear. If you get the clear headlights or Litronic (xenon) headlamps for your earlier Boxster, the trim at the bottom of the clear headlamp unit will be smoked, to match your side markers.

Hey Lucky - can you post some side by side before and after pictures or smoked versus clear. I'm planning on de-ambering soon (I also have a Seal Grey) and would like to see the difference.

here's the best i have right now...
i'll try to get a shot w/ the same angle as the original smokes later
for the record i like the clear way better than smoke on seal..
