Wheel spacers again
 

I know this has been covered before, but it seems like there's no consensus answer. What would be the correct wheel spacer size to use on a 987 Boxster S with 19" Carrera sport wheels in order to get the wheels flush with the wheelwells?

The Porsche sizes are 5 mm at all 4 corners, but the rears definitely need more than the fronts. The fronts seem ok to me but the rears need at least 7mm and maybe 14mm.

When I was at Champion last month they told me the 14mm would be too much. I can see this as being possible since the tire sticks out significantly from the wheel, so 14mm would probably get the wheel flush with the fender but might push the tire out beyond the wheelwell.

Also, the Porsche OEM kit is around $500 vs. about $200 for Eibach and $50 for H&R. Can't see why there would be such a difference since all are made of the same material.

Any recommendations?

I had the 5mm spacers at all 4 corners from the factory. After lowering the car, I went with 15mm spacers (boothe design) and left the 5mm spacers in the front. Depending on how aggressive you want, you could probably go with 7mm in the front; however, I didnt want **** getting thrown up all over the car.

Easy - measure the distance from where your tire is the edge of the wheel well lip - that will tell you how many mms you need to move them out. But if you are planning to lower it wait until you do so then measure. And was stated above, the further out you go the more crap you'll spin up onto the side of the car!

we used 7 mm spacers on both our 986 and 996. both with 19's/offset. we got ours through wheel dynamics. you can call and ask them. they are great to work with.

Oh no, they are not sticking out at all. They really sit perfectly - not perfectly flush, but they come right to the fender.

Can I use 15mm spacers without lowering the car?

Yes.15mm will fill the rear wheels with the fenders. It won't do anything visually for ride height though.

Hi Chris,

Would you have a picture of the Cayman with the Carrera sports and 15mm spacers? Does it rub at all when going through big bumps.

i have 7mm front, 15mm rear on my 987.2... lowered, no issues, looks great

These are not mounted on Carrera Sports (10 spokes) and on Cayman S. What is the offset of your wheels?

offset make no difference as to boxster or cayman.
i confused my rim names,,, yes, these are carrera S wheels.
